We bought this cookie mold from 58-year-old master craftsman Phan Van Quang. One of the few traditional wood carvers left on Hanoi’s Hang Quat Street, Phan is determined to see the carving craft continue. He has taught his two children the trade and has created a small cottage factory outside Hanoi where he teaches the age-old techniques to younger apprentices. Beyond his wood-working skills, he is also quite the philosopher, studying his customers faces and astrology charts to tell them the secrets of their health and fortune. Read Less
