The Guro are a Mande-speaking people that reside in the valleys around Cote D’Ivoire’s Bandama River. Guro masks are similar to the masks of their Baoulé neighbors, yet distinguished by their elegance. This is a female, or gu mask, ornamented with a crest of hair called a kowongi.
