As Vietnam’s national flower, the lotus is thought to symbolize purity and optimism. Native to the muddy waters of the rice paddies, the flower closes and sinks under water at night before rising and opening at dawn. Heavily influenced by the cobalt blue and white designs of China’s 15th century Ming porcelain, this vintage lotus flower oil lamp was bought from a store on Hanoi’s Hang Dong street.

This lamp is in working order. To adjust the light, use the circular knob to raise and lower the wick. Not sold with kerosene.
