Cochamama (they both mean “Mother Sea”), is the Incan Goddess of the ocean and
bodies of water in general. Married to the great creator man Viracocha, and
mother of the moon goddess Mama Quilla and the sun god Inti, Mama Cocha enjoyed
large popularity amongst sailors and fisherman, for whom she filled the seas
and lake with flippered bounty. She is especially associated with Lake
Titicaca, where it’s said that Incan Civilization originated.
