This silver charm-filled pendant was
hand-crafted by the men of Hmong tribe, a fiercely independent minority found
in the North of Vietnam. Traditionally the Hmong kept much of their wealth in
the form of silver jewelry and charms like this one would be hung from the
curved ends of their necklace. In this design, the sword charms recall the holy
swords that the tribal shaman uses to protect himself when he travels to the
spirit world.
