Named for Ambapali, a courtesan-turned-arhat (advanced spiritual practitioner), this banded brass tumbler is engraved with a whimsical design. We purchased it at the storied Chor Bazaar, where you can find all kinds of vintage Bollywood posters and Victorian knickknacks. “Chor,” which means “thieves” in Hindi, was actually a mispronunciation of another Hindi word, “shor,” meaning “noisy.”
