At Project Bly we believe that a city is a living, breathing organism. We believe in getting to know a place by wandering its alleyways, hearing the local’s stories and tasting the best street food from the city’s markets. We focus on all things relating to street culture such as street art, street food, street markets, and street music.

Photo Essays

We provide compensation for photography stories featuring a city and its streets. The story may focus on the city in general or focus on one particular aspect of street culture of the city (for example, street food).

A photo story includes 8-10 exceptional original images focused on a SINGLE CITY with accompanying captions. Please review our slideshows for examples.

HOW TO SUBMIT

Send us an e mail at hello@projectbly.com with the subject heading “Photo Story Submission.” Your submission should include at least 4 low- resolution thumbnails and a summary of the city and story within the body of the e mail.

ACCEPTANCE

If accepted, we will require high- resolution images as well as a signed licensing agreement. Only accepted submissions are paid.

COMPENSATION

Compensation is $50- $100 depending on the submission.

AUTHOR BIO

We run a brief author bio at the end of every story. Please fill in the blanks:
[Your name] is a [whatever you are and/or wherever you do it]. You can follow him/her on [Twitter/Instagram] at [your handle]. Give us 1-2 links you want us to include in your bio: blog, website, twitter handle.

Blog Submissions

Have a story you want to tell that’s not a photo essay? We are looking for your journeys in cities around the world. Tell us about your adventures; the street food you ate, the stories you heard, the markets you love, the people you met, the unique culture, your perfect day somewhere. Aim for 300-500 words. Imagine you’re telling the story to your best friends around the dinner table: tell us the vivid details and the tense moments. Make us laugh. Inspire us to travel.

HOW TO SUBMIT

Send us an e mail at hello@projectbly.com with the subject heading “Blog Submission.” Your submission should include at least one original image, a word document with the text accompanying the image(s), and an author bio and picture. By emailing us a submission, you agree that all work submitted is your original work including images, and you give Project Bly a non-exclusive license to publish your submission on our website, as well as to share it on social media.

PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDELINES

We work with some of the best street photographers in the world and we’re always looking out for exceptional talent. Whether you love to take photos of people, markets, celebrations or street food we would love to share your work. While horizontals are preferable, vertical images in pairs work just as well. 2-6 images are ideal, and files should be under 2 MB.
