  As the cloth is woven, the pattern appears. Ikat has a distinctive, almost pixel-like effect that historically earned the cloth its Persian name—abr or “clouds.” As for the weavers themselves, they get to be called abr-band, or “cloud-tiers.” Talk about a cool job title!
