  Ballroom dancing first arrived in Hanoi just around the corner from Lý Thái Tổ plaza, through the legendary doors of the Hotel Metropole. Opened in 1901 as the “largest and best appointed hotel in all of Indochina”, the guests who filled the hotel’s ballrooms brought with them the ragtime dances of the Golden Twenties in Paris, the so-called années folles, the crazy years.
