• When we met Eric, he was weaving not single, not double, but triple weave Kente. Done by hand and without the use of a shuttle, triple weave is the most time-consuming—and therefore the most expensive—kind of Kente that you can buy. It takes Eric 3-4 days to complete a single strip of triple-weave, and since a grown man’s wrapper is typically composed of some 20-25 strips, we’re talking roughly 80 days’ labor for one cloth!
