A country so rich in natural resources that some starry-eyed archaeologists have deemed it the site of the lost city of Atlantis, the indigenous people of Bolivia have had their share of invaders; first there were the Incas in the 15th century, and then, in the 16th century, the Spaniards arrived. Colonial rule was unthinkably brutal, and the natives fought it every step of the way.
