  Or so one would presume, judging by the incredibly diverse number of religious offerings you find just walking down the street. Take Buddhist shrines like this one. Common amongst the city’s Chinese Peranakan, or “Baba-Nyonya” population, we saw shrines ranging from the simple to the elaborate hanging outside of homes throughout the city.
