  Ta Phin is a place steeped in tradition and yet, even here, in this remote rice-terraced village, the modern world makes its way into every home. It is a place where children learn the age-old craft of embroidery, but only once they have sat down in front of the TV to enjoy an after-school episode of the Smurfs.
